A List of Stuff You Need In Order To Survive Outdoors
If you are someone who loves the outdoors and wants to spend significant time camping and mountain trekking in remote and isolated places, then you probably are aware how important it is to always bring the necessary survival gear in order to survive. Now the question is what should comprise this kit?
1 – Knife
The decision to go camping or hiking without bringing a knife with you as part of your outdoor survival gear is probably the stupidest one you’re going to make. Mind you, a knife is not exclusively for cutting stuff in the kitchen as it also is a very crucial part of a survival gear. Well, the biggest reason why you must not go out there without arming yourself with a knife is because there are specific things it can do that no other outdoor survival gear can. The list of functions that a knife does includes cutting practically everything like rope, cloth, and bandages, opening cans and packages, creating wood tools, and cutting food.
2 – Cordage
Rope is undoubtedly an essential part of any DIY survival gear. The fact is it almost is impossible to survive out there in a remote place or in the wild if you don’t have a rope with you or if you don’t know how to make one. The rope plays a very important role in a survival situation as it is used for so many different purposes, including that of building emergency shelters, fixing things, lashing poles, making animal traps, fishing, climbing, and making splints for injuries.
3 – Hydration System
Quite frankly, this one does not really need some explanation. Anyway, a normal person can survive days even without food, so long as there is water. Therefore, the failure to bring any kind of hydration system or water storage will decrease your chances of surviving out there. You need to understand that not all water you get access to outdoors is clean.
4 – Signaling Device
Whenever you find yourself in a survival situation while camping in an isolated and remote area, one of your priorities is to find a way to make contact with other people. The thing is if you let several days pass without doing something to make contact, your chances of being rescued will be decreased significantly. So as to be sure you have some aid in terms of establishing contact when you’re in a survival situation, always bring with you a signaling equipment. There are so many things you can bring with you like a whistle, flashlight, or any other thing that can produce light or sound of some kind. You just can forget bringing along a signaling equipment since it’s an essential tactical survival gear.
In the end, one article wouldn’t be enough to list all the other essential things you should be bringing if you really want to survive out there, regardless of how challenging and dire the survival scenario is.
